Apr 22, 2026"Cimindi Gastropub and Dishes serves the best kind of artisanal cuisine. With their signature dishes including Artisan Magelangan (fried rice and noodles with exotic spices), Orak-arik (local version of scrambled egg, served with rice and sambal), or Omelet (the mix of fried noodles and omellete au fromage, except it is without cheese), Cimindi is the kind of place you'd like to book at the end of the week to just chill with your friends. All food served comes with complimentary appetizer that varies around the day; at breakfast you might be served Sayur Labu, while at lunch perhaps you will be served Sayur Sop. An interesting concept indeed. Just like the food, the drinks are as magnificent as it sounds. Es Teh Tarik is a traditional Malay drinks, with tea and milk mixed together. And given the crowded activity during the night, many people order Torabika Capucino as their thirst-quencher, as well as a way to keep up all night. But undeniably, the most popular beverages would be Es Teh. Unlike Es Teh Tarik that have been modified locally, Es Teh is just a tea, with ice. But of course, the tea used is imported from Europe (mostly Britain) as well as India (Ceylon) and some even come from China, with the quality of serving preserve the taste of the tea. The Head Chef is Aa Furqon, along with Aa Didin as the Sous Chef, and several others as their prep cook. The place is open 24/7 with no exception. Please note that the place is always crowded with students, especially after 6 p.m.. Consider the place as the equivalent of college bar in the US, with many students from an Indonesian Ivy League University spend their night and talks about various field of sciences. Nonetheless, the place is fairly comfy and the surrounding village noises brings the vibrant of Yogyakarta. For an artisan traditional dishes connoisseur like me, Cimindi Gastropub and Dishes is a beautiful place to spend the day and the night, while observing the actual life of the locals and current social nature of the surrounding community. Update: As of January 2017, it seems like there have been change of the cooking team. I will update my review as soon as i know the details. Update 2: Turns out that the cooking team change is only temporary until the old set return from professional training in Milan and Sicily. Let's hope they will finally serve the long awaited Italian cuisine. Update 3: Ever since last year many improvement have been made. New menu like Crispy Mushroom® and Salted Egg have been added to the already diverse menu. Rumor said that the editor of Michellin Guide have eaten there and soon the establishment will be added to the guide later this year. Update 4: It is rumored that Massimo Bottura -the renowned restauranteur- is in talk with the current owner to turn cimindi into a sister restaurant of Osteria Francescana. If it happens, it will be the first Bottura's restaurant outside of Italy, and surely will bring blessing to the Indonesian small city of Yogyakarta. In an interview with The New Yorker, the owner of Cimindi said that he won't let anyone "...change the traditional and unique way Cimindi cuisines are cooked" and that he doesn't care if it's "Massimo Bottura or Jamie Oliver" who will own the business."

Mar 26, 2026"Upon examining the grandiloquent applaud made by my fellow reviewer here about the so-called Cimindi Gastropub, I was inevitably lured to visit the establishment. After finishing a lacklustre dinner there, I believe that an objection to your review is necessary. As a self-proclaimed burjo cognoscenti with more than 300 burjos under his belt, I would not even consider this establishment to be one of my 10 Best Burjo Around UGM. My humble disapproval of your over-the-top appraisal of Cimindi Gastropub also came from your use of the word "artisan." To say that they make artisanal foods is demeaning to the true artisans out there. Call me a purist, but the word should only be reserved to people who are more accomplished than 99% of its competitors at doing their jobs. And for me, Cimindi is, at best, only slightly above average in quality and taste."
